Creopop 3D Pen Lets Drawings Come to Life

3D printers are becoming more prevalent than they ever used too. But now companies are finding a way to bring 3D drawing to a more extreme level. The CreoPop is a pen that allows you to bring your 3D dimensional art to life. To give a quick back ground, CreoPop came to like as an Indiegogo campaign where they raised $213,554 (464% higher than asked for). Since this project came to life they are now selling in the more popular Best Buy and also online.

What Is CreoPop

Because there are not a lot of pens like this on the market, this is considered to be a fairly rare type of technology that is able to make 3D drawing possible. The pen combines a photopolymer gel with inside the pen that is hit with three UV lights that harden the gel as soon as it exits the pen tip.

This is also the world’s first 3D pen with cool ink. Other 3D pens have hot parts that melt the plastic and leave an unkind smell. This pen has no melting plastic and no unpleasant smell. Instead, CreoPop uses photopolymers that are solidified using LED diodes to let users create amazing 3D designs. Since no heating is required, CreoPop is safe in a home environment with children and pets around.

What you get

There are a few different packages you can get with the pen. This package I received was $129.99 package that included the fat CreoPop pen, a number of rubber drawing tips, a USB charging cable, and three photopolymer ink cartridges (red, blue and orange).

One nice thing is there is assembly you have to worry about. All you have to do is twist open the pen and put the photopolymer ink cartridges in the spot (remember to put a nozzle on the tip of the cartridge first).

You also get a 4 inch x 4 inch drawing pad. This pad allows you to draw all your creative designs and it will come off with ease, and you also don’t have to worry about ruining any other surface if you get the ink on it.

CreoPop Test

One thing you will notice right away about the pen is its fat. The only controls there is on it is a power button, a plunger speed setting and then near the tip is the operation button. While the size might seem unappealing, it’s actually nice because it fits in your hand and is comfortable when you are drawing.

One thing we noticed right away I that the pen is really hard to draw with. When the ink is coming out it is really hard to get a straight line and it comes out in swirls. If you’re not already an artist you will find out that this is really hard to create something. For myself, I’m not an artist so the best I could draw was a pretty amazing circle.

What I do like about this is the ability it has for kids. This is something that’s fun to use, but I can see this being more fun and beneficial for kids. It will let them express their artistic side and can be a great teaching tool.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I thought this was a really amazing product. It is really cool how the ink dries right away and allows you to bring your drawings to 3D life. I had little to no problems with this as well (besides having a hard time getting it to come out in a straight line). It’s a solid product and is made of quality material, so if you are using it for your kids it will last. This is definitely an amazing product!
